FAQ
Is my data uploaded to a server?
No. Audition Prep stores auditions, excerpts, sheet music, recordings, references, sessions and journal entries locally on your device. There are currently no accounts, no cloud sync and no server-side storage by us.
Does the app use analytics or tracking?
No. Audition Prep currently uses no external analytics services, no tracking and no ads.
Can I paste my excerpt list?
Yes. Copy the list from the audition posting, whether from an orchestra website or MUVAC, and paste it. From version 1.5.0 the app also recognizes English lists with solo pieces, orchestral excerpts and rounds such as Preliminary, Semifinal and Final. If a list doesn't import cleanly, send it to us and we will improve the import.
What does the manual export include?
The manual export is a metadata export. It contains auditions, excerpts, rounds, status, references, sessions and journal entries.
Local files such as PDFs, photos, sheet-music images and audio recordings are not embedded. These files stay on your device and can be backed up via your iCloud device backup, if it is turned on.
Why can a file show as missing?
If a saved local file can no longer be found in the app container, Audition Prep shows a notice such as “File not found”. This can happen when files were removed outside the app, a restore was incomplete, or local cache or file paths are no longer available.
You can relink missing sheet music or remove the entry from the excerpt. Missing recordings can be deleted from the list.
What happens with reference links?
Reference links are stored locally per excerpt. YouTube can optionally be opened via the official YouTube embed/WebView player. Spotify, Apple Music and regular web links open externally. The privacy and usage terms of those services apply.
Audition Prep does not download audio files from these services and does not extract audio.
Does the app need an internet connection?
No. Everything works offline. The only exception is the spoken guidance in the Performance module (from version 1.5.0): the audio files are downloaded from pultfrei.com on first use and then stored on your device. Without a connection, every exercise runs with text guidance.
What is the Performance module?
New in version 1.5.0: mental and physical preparation for auditions, solos, concerts and exams: guided exercises against tension, programs up to your date and a methods atlas with honest evidence grades. It is training, not therapy. If you avoid performances or panic sets in, the atlas section “When it's more than nerves” lists where to turn.
Is Audition Prep a sheet-music app?
No. Audition Prep is not a general sheet-music app and not a forScore replacement. Sheet music, PDFs and photos are attached per excerpt so you can reach them quickly in the audition context.
What is the iPad version for?
The iPad version is made especially for audition mode: open a round, put the iPad on your music stand, play the excerpt, move on to the next one. The sheet music is the focus.
Can I prepare several auditions at once?
Yes. That is one of the main benefits of the app. Audition Prep can show identical or similar excerpts across several auditions, so you spot overlaps and practise more purposefully.
How do I delete my data?
You can delete individual items in the app. When you remove the app from your device, the local app data is removed. iCloud device backups are managed in your iOS and iCloud settings.
